Run For Dreams (3K Run)

This semester the service committee put on a fundraising event called Run for Dreams 3k Walk/Run.  Where all proceeds went to benefit I Have A Dream Foundation.  The mission of this organization is to “motivate and empower children from low-income communities to reach their education and career goals by providing a long-term program of mentoring, tutoring and enrichment as well as tuition assistance for higher education.”  The purpose and goals of this organization closely aligned with the exact audience that we would like to help out in the community around Drake here in Des Moines. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This event took hours of preparation and manpower from the entire service committee.  It took place on October 3rd at 9:00 am around Drake’s campus.  There was a total of 128 individuals that signed up for the race and a total of 101 participants on the day of the 3K.  After a final count of all the donations, we raised $1,355 for I Have A Dream Foundation.  As a chapter, we would like to continue on with our relationship with this organizations and make it one of our main philanthropies that we support with both fundraisers and volunteer hours from our members.
